Children's Art Festival

Overview

Children's Art Festival is a two-part project that moves from static poster to animated motion piece. The poster was designed from the start with animation in mind, with each element given a distinct visual voice so they could be staged and revealed over time.

I drew from the real site at Esther Short Park in Vancouver, translating the location's organic shapes and color into an abstract system of flowing bands and bold typography. In the animation, I carried over the multi-layer effect from the static poster, and let some information slide into frame like a playground slide, giving the whole piece a lively feel that fits the tone of a children's art event.
